From 1981 to 2014, he served as the longest foreign media reporter in China for 33 years.
He interviewed President Jiang Zemin, conversed with Premier Zhu Rongji , and dialogued with Yao Ming. He also reported on the National People's Congress(NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) ,the Olympic Games, the Asian Games, and the Wenchuan earthquake. He witnessed and reported the most significant events of China over the past three decades.
From 1977 to 1981, he was a student of world history in the Department of History at Peking University. “My university years at Beida were perhaps one of the best times in my life, and in the 46 years that I have spent in China.”
Now, he is the chair of the Fortune Global Forum in the Greater China Region, the Vice President of Peking University Alumni Association, and the President of International PKU Alumni Association.
He says “I hope to do better in organising more activities to requite Beida, to assist Beida with being more open in global communication, and to become more globalized.”
