Reestablished in 2005, the College of Engineering currently incorporates six departments: the Department of Materials Science & Engineering, Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics, Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME), Department of Energy & Resources Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering & Management, and the Department of Mechanics & Aerospace Engineering. Six undergraduate programs, two master programs and 10 Ph.D. programs have been set up in order to cultivate the next generation of leaders in engineering practice, research and education.

College of Engineering is home to an excellent team of faculty members who emphasizes teaching as well as research. They are recruited by the Tenure-Track method, all of whom are renowned and experienced in their research field. They normally relate to Departments and many have their own labs, institutes and research centers.

Now there are altogether 110 faculty members, including 40 professors, 17 associate professors and 53 assistant professors.

Since its founding in 2005, the College of Engineering has made great strides in its scientific research. From 2006 to 2012, research projects and funding approved has increased dramatically, with the number of granted research projects rising from 79 in 2006 to 220 in 2012, and funding approved growing from 28 million yuan to 230 million yuan in the last six years. Compared to that in 2006, the research funding the college virtually received in 2012 increased 15 times, reaching nearly 204 million yuan.

In the last six years, the College of Engineering has undertaken over 1096 research projects in various fields of engineering. They are all highly connected to the development of high and advanced technologies in China. The caliber of these projects represents the growing research capability of the college.

From 2006 to 2012, the College of Engineering published 1223 SCI papers, in which COE served as the affiliation of the principal or communicating authors. The number of patents registered by COE has also increased, with 20 patents authorized in 2012 (with Peking University as the patent applicant).
