2019 Undergraduate Program (Entrance Examination)

Program Introduction

Students are required to complete the curriculum within4 to 6 years and fulfill the designated number of credits. Successful graduates will receive a graduation certificate along with the bachelor’s degree, according to Degree Committee regulations.

Application Prerequisites

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, between the ages of 18 and 25, and have attained a senior high school diploma. Residents of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan who have emigrated to other countries and are applying to Peking University as international students must present valid passport or citizenship documents dating from before April 30, 2015, along with proof of residence abroad of at least 2 years between April 30, 2015 and the application deadline (9 months of residence abroad per year may be considered as one year).

Application Process:

1. On-Line registration

1.1. Please register at http://www.studyatpku.com. Fill and submit the “Entrance Exam Undergraduate Program” application form and print a hardcopy for reference. Online applications open on January 1 2019 and end on March 8 2019. In general, applicants will be able to check the status of their application within 10 working days.

2. Submit Application Materials

2.1. After completing the Peking University Application Form for International Students online, please print and attach a 2-inch passport-style photo.

2.2. Senior high school graduation diploma (Students expecting to graduate should provide an official letter stating expected graduation date, and submit the graduation diploma if admitted), which should be the original documents or certified copies in Chinese or English.

2.3. Official transcripts of your academic achievements up to the present, including courses taken and grades achieved (original documents or certified copies in Chinese or English).

2.4. A personal statement

2.5. One photocopy of your passport (must be a valid, ordinary passport).

2.6. Additional materials may be requested from Peking University

Note: Your applications and documents will not be returned.


Materials Submission Period

March1-8 2019. Materials can be submitted in person or through mail. For deadline purposes, the date of posting will be considered as the date of submission.

Application Fee

800 RMB. Payment by cash, Unionpay bank card, or online payment. Other currencies and travel cheques are not accepted. Please note that incomplete application materials or applications without the application fee will not be processed. The application fee is not refundable.


Admission Ticket Printing

The International Students Division will check the application materials within 5 work days.  Applicants can print their admission ticket online after March 18.

Entrance Examination Date

The written tests will be held on March 23-24 2019. For the exact details of the test venue and time, please refer to your admission ticket.

The applicants who pass the written tests are required to attend an interview. Date and venue will be informed after the written test.

Admission:

Admission will be determined according to the results of the entrance examinations and the interview. The written tests result will be sent to applicants’ account which was created on the online application system. The interview list and admission result will be posted onlinehttp://www.isd.pku.edu.cn. The " Admission Letter " and the attached documents can be obtained at the middle of June. After admission, the school may review application documents. If the school discovers a violation, it reserves the right to revoke your admission.

Science Subjects: 30,000RMB          Humanities: 26,000RMB


PKU International Students Scholarship:

Peking University offers full and partial scholarships for outstanding students. A full scholarship covers tuition fee, 2000RMB/month living allowance and medical insurance for the first year. A partial scholarship covers tuition fee for the first year. Students may apply for the scholarship after the admission announcements are made. For more details, please visit the International Students Division website.


Medical Insurance

Chinese Ministry of Education regulations require that all international students must be medically insured throughout their entire planned period of study. Students are required to purchase the Comprehensive Insurance Plan for Foreign Students online before or on the day of registration. Students who do not have valid medical insurance are not allowed to register.


Accommodation Information

There are different types of housing facilities for international students at PKU.

Non-Chinese government scholarship students are required to find their own living accommodation. Please note that students who live off campus must register with their local police station within 24 hours of arrival.


Visa information

Students admitted to PKU should apply for the ‘X1’ visa at the Chinese Embassy/Consulate in your country with your admission letter and JW201/202 form. The X1 visa will only be valid for 30 days after arrival in China. Within these 30 days, International students must come to the International Students Division and apply for a Residence Permit in order to obtain a legal status in China.
