International Alumni Oral Histories Announcement Ceremony Held at Peking University

Peking University International Alumni Oral Histories—Press Conference and Panel Discussion took place on the morning of October 25, 15 in Multifunctional Hall. Li Yansong, Executive Vice President of Peking University (PKU), Jaime FlorCruz, President of International Alumni Association, Wang Xiaoqiu, Professor of History Department and Doctoral Tutor of PKU and Fang Jun, Officer in the International Division of the Ministry of Education took part in the conference. This press conference was made to announce the publication of three books entitled “Peking University International Alumni Oral Histories” and demonstrate PKU’s excellent work in international communication.

At the beginning of the ceremony, President Li addressed a speech in which he pointed out the irreplaceable role PKU played in bridging China and foreign countries, confirmed the profound meaning of the books in accelerating the communication between different cultures and expressed appreciation for the ones that have made contribution to the publication of the books.

Fang Jun, an officer in the Ministry of Education, delivered congratulation and gratitude for PKU in the field of international communication. Accompanied by the rapid development of higher education, PKU is playing an increasingly significant role in the international stage and attracting more oversea students. What's more, he advised to translate the books into English, which can be reference for foreign students in the future.

During the discussion section, Jaime looked back on his four-year college time and exchanged his feeling with Professor Wang, Jaime’s teacher when he studied in PKU. He shared his insight into Chinese journalism, elaborated his principle and internal motivation of being a journalist and stressed the significance of being objective and sympathetic as a journalist.
