School of Marxism is the earliest cradle spreading and studying Marxism in China. As early as the beginning of 20th century, teachers and students such as Li Dazhao from Peking University begun to study and spread Marxism at Peking University. As the main institution studying Marxism, School of Marxism has taken the lead in passing this tradition as well as carrying forward the Marxist theoretical moral of moving along with the time ever since it’s founding. It now serves as an important base to promote Marxism theoretical disciplinary construction and a unit to conduct education of theoretical courses on ideology and politics as well as social training.

Up to now, we have over 10 important academic research task above the provincial level and have produced quite a number of scientific research fruits。Ever since 2002, there are nearly 200 pieces of works (including textbooks ) and over 600 academic papers published. Over120 awards have been won by the staff from School of Marxism 。Among the staff, over 10 professors are senior experts or members for Program Group of Central Marxist Theory Construction Project. They played very important roles as leading scholars and academic skeletons. School of Marxism now shoulders the teaching task of ideological and political theoretical courses for under-graduate, graduates and post-graduates of the whole Peking University.

School of Marxism often organizes various kinds of theoretical seminars which have great influence in the academic circles as well as expand the visions and opportunities for students’ academic activities. The academic communication to other countries and regions has always been hectic in School of Marxism. Since 1998, we have invited scholars from the U.S, Korea, Bulgaria, Poland and Taiwan for academic interchanges and invited lectures. At the same time, we have supported staff for medium or short-time academic visits to overseas universities. In the name of Institute of Social Economy and Culture, School of Marxism has signed agreements with Seokang University of Korea, Lodz University of Poland and Yuanzhi University of Tanwai for established and continual academic communications and has held many international academic activities centered on variety of topics on a regular basis.

At the new phase of a new era, School of Marxism of Peking University is now promoting the constructions on academic disciplinary, courses and staff with high standards. Through a continuous effort, School of Marxism is confident to become an influential school both home and abroad which matches the requirements of World First Class University.
