Instructions on Formalities Related to Peking University International Students Applying for Internship Annotation on Residence Permit
(For Degree Program Students Only)
According to the rules of the "Regulations on the Administration of Entry and Exit of Foreigners of the People's Republic of China", if a foreigner holds a residence permit for study and needs to work or intern outside of school, he/she should apply to the Exit and Entry Administration of the Public Security Bureau for residence only after approval by the school. The documents are filled with information such as work-study or internship locations and deadlines. This regulation is specially issued to further standardize and guide the foreign students of Peking University to engage in off-campus internship activities.
Application Qualifications:
1.International degree program students officially registered at Peking University.
2. Holds a residence permit for study.
3. Undergraduate applicants are required to have successfully passed all compulsory courses (students that have retaken failed courses and acquired passing grades can also apply). The applicant’s GPA should be in the top 50% of the class; graduate applicants are required to have no failed courses.
4. The applicant must have no record of misconduct, no violation of either school rules and regulations or relevant management regulations for international students; no record of disciplinary punishment; has not violated Chinese laws; has not been punished by the judicial department or the public security agency.
5. Applicants are required to obtain approval from their department of study.
6. The applicant has obtained the internship qualification of the relevant enterprise or organization, and the content of the internship must be related to the concentration of study.
7. The period of internship does not exceed the duration of study at Peking University.
Application Process:
1. After the international student has fulfilled all of the internship’s qualifications and acquired acceptance, the enterprise or organization must issue an internship certificate or agreement, and clearly indicate the internship time, place and description of work.
2. Fill in the “Peking University Foreign Students Application Form for Annotation on Residence Permit” (click to download). After the department has signed the form, submit it to the International Students Division.
2. The International Students Division will complete the review within five working days, and the foreign students may obtain the internship consent letter for foreign students of Peking University.
3. Then take the application materials to the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau Exit-Entry Administration.

2. Valid temporary accommodation registration form.
3. Peking University’s Consent Letter.

Other Important Information on Off-Campus Internships:
1. Each internship annotation on the residence permit should not exceed six months.
2. After the applicant changes an internship, she/he must re-apply for the internship annotation on the residence permit.
3. If the applicant has a significant decline in academic performance during the internship, has had a considerable amount of absences from class, violation of school rules and regulations, or Chinese law, then the school has the right to cancel the visa.
4. Foreign students who have stopped or have been suspended from school during the internship must cancel their residence permit as required.
