In 2010, to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the new China providing an opportunity to accept and teach exchange students, Peking University set up the International Alumni Association. The association's main aims are: to gather information about international alumni in order to update the alumni database; to organize activities for alumni; to strengthen relationships not only among the international alumni, but also between alumni in China and abroad, and between the alma mater and its international students; to encourage alumni to donate; to collect suggestions made by international alumni for the university; and finally to invite international alumni to share their experiences.
