Established by the Bai Xian Education Foundation and Bai Xian Asia Institute, the Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program aims to promote the harmonious development and common prosperity of Asia by engaging students from Asian countries in cultural exchange. AFLSP 2022 is now open for Japanese students who are now studying at Peking University. Successful candidates will be offered scholarships throughout the academic year 2022-2023.

Eligible Applicants must be:

1. Japanese nationality, officially registered at Peking University.

2. Existing students of Peking University, sophomore or junior undergraduate students for academic year 2022-2023, or master students newly enrolled in September 2022.

3. Honest, with leadership, care and understand the current international and cross-cultural issues, dedicated and passionate towards volunteering, and identified with Bai Xian’s mission and vision.

4. Proficient in English language.

Application Materials:

1. Scholarship application form (including a 3 min video, see attachment: AFLSP Scholarship Application);

2. Nomination form (see attachment: Nomination Form);

3. Certificate of English proficiency;  

4. Transcript(softcopy of the official transcript, signed or stamped with the official seal)

5. Recommendation letter (The recommendation letter should be issued by a person who has a deep understanding of the recommended person, printed on the official writing paper, and signed or stamped with the official seal. The referee shall not be the applicant’s relative);

6. Supplementary materials (English materials that demonstrate the applicant's special talents or unique achievements).

USD 25,000 / Recipient

Scholarship Payment:

The scholarship will be awarded to the winners through Peking University Education Foundation. The scholarship will be distributed in two installments: 1/2 at the beginning of each term.

Awardees are obliged to:

1. Participate in the 2023 Bai Xian Asia Institute Summer Program;

2. Participate in other special training programs and events catered to awardees by Peking University during the academic year;

3. If awardees decide to participate in an exchange program, or study abroad for a short time during the scholarship academic year, they shall inform Bai Xian; if awardees attend courses outside Asia and study non-Asia related courses during the exchange or study abroad time, Bai Xian will reserve the right to withhold the scholarship;

4. If awardees get any other scholarship, tuition deduction and / or subsidy provided by a third party, he / she shall be responsible for informing Bai Xian;

5. Awardees have the priority to stay in the Asian Youth Center of Peking University for a year (Building 6, Zhongguanyuan Global Village), accommodation fee is not covered;

Please submit all the application materials by email to ischolarship@pku.edu.cn before 16:00 June 3, 2022. Overdue will be deemed as automatic waiver.

Email Title should be named as: 2022 AFLSP application + passport name + Chinese name

Selection Procedure:

1. Application materials submitted by the applicants;

2. Recommendation and nomination of candidates by Peking University after reviewing;

3. Evaluation and interview by Bai Xian Asia Institute.

4. Announcement of Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Winners.

Others:

Apart from the scholarship, every awardee shall sign the letter of commitment prescribed by Bai Xian, and will be granted the title of “BX Scholar” during the scholarship academic year.
