Students may dine at canteens and dining halls on campus. There are Nong Yuan, Shao Yuan, Yi Yuan, Yan Nan Meishi, Students’ Canteen No.1, Students’ Canteen No.5, Chang Chun Dining Hall, etc.
Other facilities that are available on campus include PKU hospital, post office, convenience stores, banks, bookstores, laundry, photo development shops, gyms and a theater.
Convenience Stores
Wumei Mart and Boshi Mart are on campus where students may purchase their daily necessities as well as groceries.

Photocopy Shops
There are many photocopy shops on campus at the underground B1, Dormitory No.29, and it is cheap to print documents.
Photographer' Shops
The recommended on-campus photographer's shop is located at the underground B2 New Sun Student Center.
Mobile Services
The two largest mobile service companies in China are China Mobile and China Unicom. After you arrive in China, you may buy the SIM card from either of the two companies. They both have shops on PKU campus:

Mailing Services
There is a post office on campus besides the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.
For on-campus residences, there is a mailroom at Zhongguanyuan Global . The mailroom will send you a ‘notification letter’ whenever you receive an incoming mail (may it be letter, package or money order).
To claim your mail, you must present your photo ID (Campus Card or Passport) to the mailroom. If you are to claim a package or a money order, you will first need to collect a ‘package notice’/‘money order notice’ from the mailroom by presenting your photo ID to the staff. You will then have to bring the ‘package notice’/ ‘money order notice’ together with your photo ID to the main post office to collect your mail.
Letter Address Format
The address of Peking University may be written in English or Chinese. For example:
For letters that are to be sent domestically, please use the following format that includes the name, the address and the postcode of both the recipient and the sender. Write the postcode of the recipient on the top left corner of the envelope.
The above letter is addressed to Shao Yuan. If you live off-campus, please inquire from your landlord regarding your complete address.
To write letters to be sent abroad, please use the international customary format to write the address on the front side of the envelope. If you write the address in other languages rather than Chinese, you also need to write the targeted country’s name in Chinese on the envelope.
Internet Services
All internationals students’ dormitories have an Internet connection. You may also access the Internet at the Computer Service Center (计算机中心), the Library, and the Internet cafes on campus. Peking University often issues important information and news on the website, and we recommend that you regularly check the latest information.
In the international students' dormitories, the Internet connection is automatically established. This means that when a computer connects to the schools network, both the IP and DNS addresses will be obtained automatically, and no special setup is required to browse websites.

Banks and Foreign Currency Exchange
Ren Min Bi (RMB) is the sole legal tender of China. The unit used for the RMB is Yuan and it has the smaller denominations of Jiao and Fen (1 Yuan = 10 Jiao = 100 Fen).
RMB is issued in both note and coin forms. The paper notes come in the denominations of 100 Yuan, 50 Yuan, 20 Yuan, 10 Yuan, 5 Yuan, 2 Yuan, 1 Yuan, 5 Jiao, 2 Jiao and 1 Jiao; and the denominations for coins are 1 Yuan, 5 Jiao, 1 Jiao, 5 Fen, 2 Fen and 1 Fen.
For your own safety, do not exchange money on the streets; otherwise you may risk getting conned. When opening a bank account/exchanging foreign currency at banks, you will be required to present your passport to the bank staff. You may also deposit foreign currencies (Pound Sterling, Hong Kong Dollar, American Dollar, Euro, Japanese Yen, Canadian Dollar and Australian Dollar) directly into your account. Do inquire from the bank staff for further details. The location of these banks can be found on the PKU campus map or the city map of Beijing.

Holidays
All international students enjoy the same school holidays as Chinese students. The university does not schedule any school breaks for foreign holidays/celebrations.
Students may find the university’s holiday schedule in the academic calendar. Furthermore, Peking University’s homepage will announce the details of the holiday schedules shortly before the breaks.
