Scholarship for International Students, PKU
International students of Peking University may apply for Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS), Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS), or Peking University Scholarship (PKUS). International students from Confucius Institutes also can apply for Confucius Institute Scholarship (CIS).The scholarships are categorized into full scholarships and partial scholarships.
The scholarships are preferentially awarded to excellent international students for degree studies at Peking University. The students who have been granted scholarships are requested to participate in annual review, and those passing the annual review are eligible for next-year scholarship support.
Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS)
International students who are applying for admission to Peking University may apply for CGS support. The scholarship application should be directed to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in the applicant’s home country. The application time is from last November to April of the year (varied for different countries). Please find out the application deadline for your country in advance.
In addition, Peking University is authorized by the Ministry of Education of China to recommend the excellent pre-admitted graduate students as CGS candidates. The scholarship is preferentially awarded to the applicants who are not studying in China, and the total number is limited. This scholarship is a full scholarship, covering tuition fees, accommodation, living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance.
Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS)
Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS) was established by Beijing Municipal Government, covers the tuition fees of international students, fully or partially, and need to be applied every year. The International students’ office, PKU is authorized by Beijing Municipal Government to be responsible for the acceptance, review, and approval of the scholarship applications.
Peking University Scholarship (PKUS)
The Peking University Scholarship (PKUS) was established by Peking University, aiming to encourage and support excellent international students to pursue degrees at Peking University.
The scholarship is categorized into full scholarships and partial scholarships. Full scholarship covers tuition, living stipend (including accommodation subsidy) and comprehensive medical insurance. Partial scholarship covers tuition.
Confucius Institute Scholarship (CIS)
Confucius Institute Scholarship program is established by the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban to provide full scholarships to international students and scholars, aiming to improve Chinese language or do research in Chinese culture. It is open to undergraduates, graduates and visiting students.
