Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program (AFLSP)
1. Overview of AFLSP
Peking University (PKU) is participating in the Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program (AFLSP) as one of its Partner Universities.
Under the administration of Bai Xian Asia Institute (BXAI), the AFLSP provides scholarships for high-caliber students to study abroad within Asia and a platform for students and educational institutions can cultivate lasting relationships based on mutual trust and understanding --- essential tools for building bridges across cultures.
The AFLSP was set up at Peking University in 2014, supporting Asian students studying at Yenching Academy as well as full-time Japanese students studying at other departments/schools of Peking University. 10 scholarships are awarded each year to outstanding students with local insight and global perspective.
2. Eligibility and selection criteria
The scholarship recipients must satisfy the following:
Asian students from Yenching Academy or Japanese students from other Academies.
High proficiency in English.
Supportive of BXAI’s mission and vision, possess strong personal integrity, interested in international and intercultural understanding and goodwill, and prepared to contribute.
3. Requirements of the scholarship
The scholarship recipient must fulfill the following:
Remain enrolled as a full-time student at PKU for the duration of participation in the AFLSP
Fulfill the GPA requirement as stipulated by PKU and BXAI
Participate in the BXAI Summer Program, which spans up to three weeks, in the first summer after enrollment in the AFLSP
Participate in all mandatory AFLSP programs/activities as stipulated by PKU and BXAI
4. Application process and timeline
4.1 For Yenching Academy students, the AFLSP application is subject to the enrollment requirements of the Yenching Academy Program.
4.2 For Japanese students from other departments/schools, the AFLSP application process and timeline is as following (The specific application timeline shall be in accordance with the notice of the year):

The International Students Division releases an application notice; Students shall submit their application according to the notification requirements. |
May to early June |
The International Students Division conducts preliminary examination, and shall submit preliminary trial list (includes up to 12 students) and all related materials to BXAI.) |
Late June |
BXAI informs Peking University of the final confirmation list of awarded students. |
5. How to apply
For Yenching Academy students, the AFLSP application is subject to the enrollment requirements of the Yenching Academy Program.
For Japanese students from other departments/schools, all AFLSP applications shall be submitted to the International Students Division. The specific application form shall be in accordance with the notice of the year.

7. Special note for Japanese students
Japanese students from other departments/schools have priority to reside at the Asian Youth Center of Peking University for one year.
