According to the notice of China Scholarship Council, the following is hereby announced regarding the extension of the Chinese government Scholarship this year:
For PhD students:
1) The duration of the professional study period shall not exceed 5 years.
2) If the applicant has been awarded the Bilateral Program, the application for the scholarship extension should be accompanied by a letter of consent from the embassy or consulate in principle. Those who were awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship directly from Peking University do not need to submit a letter of consent from the embassy or consulate.
3) In order to apply for the extension of the Chinese Government Scholarship, the applicant will first need to extend his/her enrollment in their department/school.
4) In order to apply for an extension, PhD students must first pass the comprehensive examination and complete the thesis proposal.
5) Applicants should fill in the "Application Form for Extension of Chinese Government Scholarship《中国政府奖学金延长申请表》”. The length of the extension period must be specified, to January 2021 or July 2021, and the reason for the extension must be clearly stated in "The reason for extending expiring date of scholarship" section.
6) In order to apply for the extension of the period of Chinese Government Scholarship, the applicant needs to participate in and pass the annual evaluation before the application.
Please print out, fill in and sign the "China Scholarship Council Form for Annual Review of Chinese Government Scholarship Status 《中国政府奖学金年度评审表》（click here to download）" and the "Application Form for Extension of Chinese Government Scholarship 《中国政府奖学金延长申请表》（click here to download）". The two scanned copies of the documents above are required to emailed at csc@pku.edu.cn before May 7th , 2020.

For Non- PhD students:
Please apply to the Chinese embassy (consulate) or the overseas program department in your home country, included in the quota of 2020/2021 plan; Upon their approval of the extension, the applicant shall participate in and pass the annual evaluation; and must first extend his/her enrollment in their department/school.
