Explanations for Chinese Language Class Arrangement:
Peking University Chinese Language Summer School does not open foundation course for zero Chinese ability students, nor accept close to native Chinese ability students. Chinese Language courses are divided into 4 levels: Beginner, Lower Intermediate, Intermediate, Advanced. 

-Elementary Class: Mainly for students with some Chinese ability, have learned Pinyin and most common Chinese characters, understands and uses simplest Chinese words and sentences, Chinese ability at HSK Level 1 (vocabulary quantity 150) and above.

-Lower Intermediate Class: Mainly for students with basic Chinese ability, can communicate with familiar daily topics, Chinese ability at HSK Level 3 (vocabulary quantity 600) and above.

-Intermediate Class: Mainly for students with good Chinese ability, can use Chinese to complete basic communication tasks for daily life and studies, Chinese ability at HSK Level 4 (vocabulary quantity 1200) and above.

-Advanced Class: Mainly for students with Chinese ability at HSK Level 5 (vocabulary quantity 2500) and above, can smoothly use Chinese to communicate, discuss wide range of topics, but accuracy, complexity and appropriateness have not reached native Chinese ability.
Chinese Language Summer School uses small classes for teaching, classes are divided by self-assessment results, about 8 – 20 students per class.
