As notified by the China Scholarship Council, applicants for the Chinese Government Scholarship in the academic year 2018-2019 may submit admission applications to Chinese universities prior to apply the Chinese Government Scholarship. Upon receiving the Letter of Pre-Admission applicants may submit the application for the Chinese Government Scholarship to the Chinese embassies/institutes overseas administering the scholarship.
Peking University welcomes all outstanding international students to pursue their studies, and is more than willing to provide support to students who would like to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship. Interested students may refer to the following instructions for guidance.
IMPORTANT information:
1. Applications incomplete, late, or not submitted according to stipulated instructions risk rejection. Applicants can log into the application portal at the end of April to check the application outcome. As there is a huge volume of applications during the application period, e-mails, visits or calls inquiring the admission status will not be answered.
2. The Letter of Pre-Admission will be sent to successful applicants via e-mail; please provide a valid e-mail address when applying.
3. Applicants who receive the Letter of Pre-Admission from Peking University are to send the letter, along with all other required application materials, to the Chinese embassies/institutes overseas administering the scholarship. For the scholarship admission result and the official admission notification, please consult the Chinese Embassies/institutes overseas administering the scholarship.
4. Should an applicant not be granted the Chinese Government Scholarship, the Letter of Pre-Admission is still valid. The applicant is welcome to enter Peking University as a self-funded student. Self-funded students will have to make an application directly to Peking University.
5. The Letter of Pre-Admission is only to assist applicants in applying for the Chinese Government Scholarship. It is not the final admission document.

Application Procedures:
● Complete an online application. Application period: 12 March 2018 – 10 April 2018
● Mail supporting documents. Please mail your paper application materials to the International Students Division of Peking University by 15 April 2018. The postal address is:

● NOTE: Late applications (received after 15 April 2018) will not be processed. Please conspicuously indicate “Application for Pre-Admission for the Chinese Government Scholarship” on the envelope containing your application materials.
Criteria for Pre-Admission:
All-rounded evaluation, merit-based admission
Language Proficiency
1. To apply for a Chinese taught program, a minimum score of 210 marks for HSK6 is required. Please state your Chinese language proficiency and number of years learning Chinese if you have not taken the HSK exam. Extra supporting documents may need to be summited if you are qualify for the admission.
2. Students who do not meet the expected language proficiency for Chinese-taught programs may be scheduled to attend preparatory language courses for 1-2 years.
3. Peking University offers Master’s programs taught in English, no Chinese language requirements are required. Students who are interested in English taught courses can click on English Taught Programs. For more details regarding tuition fees, please refers to the related programs. (NOTE : Tuition fees for English taught Programs might not be fully covered by Chinese Government Scholarship, students are required to cover the rest).
4. English language courses will be provided by Peking University for PhD Students majoring in Science and Engineering programs. Students who interested are welcome to reach the professors.
