Established in 2013 by the Bai Xian Education Foundation, the Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program aims to promote the harmonious development and common prosperity of Asia by engaging students from Asian countries in cultural exchange. AFLSP 2019 is now open for Japanese students who are now studying at Peking University. Successful candidates will be offered scholarships throughout the academic year 2019-2020.

Eligible Applicants must be:

1. Japanese nationality, officially registered at Peking University.

2. Existing student of Peking University, either undergraduate or postgraduate (master and PhD included)，including students newly enrolled in September 2019.

3. Honest, caring and understanding about current international and cross-cultural issues, dedicated and passionate towards volunteering, and identifies with Bai Xian’s mission and vision.

4. Proficient in English language.

5. No overseas exchange plans for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Application Materials:

1)Scholarship application form (see attachment：PKU Japanese AFLSP Scholarship Application Form 2019);

2)Nomination form (see attachment：AU Nomination Form);

3)Certificate of English proficiency ,eg. Transcript of IELTS and other tests ;

4)Transcript;

5)Recommendation letter (the recommendation letter should be issued by the collegiate professor who has a deep understanding of the recommended person, and signed or stamped with the official seal. The referee shall not be the applicant’s relative);

6)Supplementary materials (materials that demonstrate the applicant's special talents or unique achievements).

Amount of Scholarship: USD 25,000 / Recipient

Awardees are obliged to

1.Participate in the 2020 Bai Xian Asia Institute Summer Program;

Note: anyone who is unable to do so shall explain their situation in written form and participate in the program next year.

2.Participate in other special training programs and events catered to awardees;

3.Spend one year living at the Asian Youth Center of Peking University (Building 6, Zhongguan Xinyuan) Accommodation fee not covered;

4.Meet other requirements set by Bai Xian Asia Institute;

Application Deadline:

Please submit the application materials to Room 328, International Students Division, New Sun Student Center before 16:00 at 13th June, 2019 (excluding weekends).

Scholarship Payment:

The scholarships will be awarded to their winners through Peking University Foundation. The scholarship will be distributed twice: 1/3 of the total amount will be offered in September 2019 and the remaining 2/3 will be granted after the summer program.

Selection Procedure:

1) Application materials submitted by the applicants;

2) Recommendation and nomination of candidates by Peking University after reviewing;

3) Evaluation and result announcement by Bai Xian Asia Institute.

Other:

Apart from the scholarship, every awardee will be granted the title of “AFLSP Scholar” (Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Winner).
